Obituary of Tomasina J. "Tessie" (Grella) Armoian
Tomasina J. Tessie (Grella) Armoian 90 years of Peabody, wife of the late Jack H. Armoian, died Thursday morning at the Beverly Hospital after a brief illness.
Mrs. Armoian was born on November 11, 1915 in Venticano Italy daughter of the late Pasquale and Angelina (DeMarco) Grella. She emigrated with her family at age 6 and entered the United States at Ellis Island in New York. The family resided for a brief period in NH with other family members and then moved to Everett. She was raised in Everett and graduated from Everett High School class of 1934. In 1959 she moved to Peabody.
Mrs. Armoian was a seamstress who worked independently out of her home. For a few years she was employed in the same capacity at L.H. Rogers in Salem and George’ s of Peabody. She devoted her entire life to her family and spoiling her grandchildren. She was an active communicant of St. Ann’ s Church in Peabody and also attended the Roger B. Trask Adult Health Ctr. in Peabody. She as a Past President of the Italo Balbo Women’ s Club in Everett. Mrs. Armoian was an avid bowler at Metro Bowl, enjoyed watching her favorites teams the Red Sox and Boston Celtics. She traveled extensively throughout the world and loved to crochet, knit and sew.
She is survived by her daughter and her husband Harriet A. and Michael S. Zolotas of Peabody with whom she resided; 2 grandchildren, Stephen M. Zolotas and Christina J. Zolotas of Peabody; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Her siblings Anthony Grella, Virginia Crisafulli, Caroline Cirrone and Mary D’ Onofrio pre deceased her.
Her funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St. location Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Ann’ s Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Sunday 3 to 7 p.m. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Roger B. Trask Adult Health Ctr., 79 Central St., Peabody MA 01960.
