Obituary of Samuel M. Serino

Samuel M. Serino, 62, of Methuen and formerly of Peabody, died peacefully Saturday evening at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen with his family at his side after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of 16 years this fall to Jill Szynski-Serino. He was born in Lynn, MA on July 1,1954 the son of the late Angelo A. and Nellie (Ftizherbert) Serino and was raised in Peabody and resided in Methuen for the past 9 years. He was a graduate of St. Thomas Grammar School, and Peabody High School in 1972. Sam was an avid golfer and was an assistant golf pro at the Thomson Country Club in No Reading for many years. He also worked in golf retail sales and the Calloway Golf Store in Boston. He had belonged to the Gannon Golf Club in Lynn and later at Hickory Hill Golf course in Methuen. Sam recorded a record round of 63 at the Wayland Golf Club. Sam was a bartender at the Beverly Depot, the Myopia Country Club, Oxygen Club prior to his retirement. He loved to cook his Italian recipes and enjoyed being with his pet cat “Rosey” for 11 years. He is survived by his wife Jill of Methuen, his siblings and their spouses,Lee Faneuf of Salem, MA, Gary Serino and his wife Debra of Yarmouth, Me, Linda Lambert and her husband Michael of Newburyport, MA, Laurie Serino and John Belanger of Danvers, Tony Serino of Las Vegas, Nevada, Ernest Serino and Steven Serino and his wife Patti all of Salem ,Ma, and several nieces and nephews, Grandnieces and nephews and a host of friends. A Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday , July 29, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St Thomas the Apostle Church, Rt. 114 on the Peabody/Salem line. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
