Obituary of Mary Madeline (Lennox) Nickerson
Mary Madeline (Lennox) Nickerson, 79, of Beverly, MA died Tuesday at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers with her family at her side. She was born in Boston, MA on October 3, 1936, the daughter of the late Harold and Thelma (Van Norden) Lennox. She moved to Lower Argyle, Nova Scotia, Canada as a child and where she was raised. She later returned to Massachusetts after starting her family, resided in Malden.
She worked as a typist for Polk Industries, later working with the Catholic Charities Home Child Care and the Elder Care in the Malden area. She later resided in Melrose and Peabody before moving to Beverly. Mary enjoyed going to the movies, taking walks and looking at the beauty of nature around her. She also had traveled to many places in Europe and around the US during her lifetime.
She had five children and is survived by four, Cheryl L. Coffey and her husband Dennis of Danvers, the late Scott D. Nickerson, Stephen W. Nickerson and his wife Laurie of Hampton, NH, Susan D. D’Allesandro and her husband John of Dedham, Christopher A. Nickerson and his wife Jennifer of Marblehead; her cherished grandchildren, Jason, Jill, Stephanie, Stephen Jr., Justin, Jessica and Chloe; her three great grandchildren, Kaden, Grayson and Kaley; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two sisters, Julie McQuillan of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and Ann Meshna of Lynn. She was the former wife of Carl A. Nickerson.
A Private family funeral service was held on Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, and MA 02472 or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 7 Erie Drive, Suite 101, Natick MA 01760 in her memory.
