Obituary of Francesco Antonio Zuppio

Francesco Antonio Zuppio, 102, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon at Grosvenor Park Health Center in Salem. Born December 2, 1913 to the late Christina and Antonio, he attended Salem Schools until he was forced to leave at age 15 to work in a leather shop in order to help support the family. On April 9, 1939 he married the love of his life, Irene M MacDonald with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. After leaving the leather business in 1967, he worked as a dispatcher for Cressy Dockham in Salem until his retirement in 1982. He continued to work a variety of part time jobs until 2002 when he ended his working career at the age of 89 as a crossing guard at the South Memorial School in Peabody. He was most proud of his family, and his home which he purchased in 1958. His joy came from watching his children thrive, traveling, and dinner dates with his wife and outings to Wonderland Dog track. He leaves his son Frank, daughter Christine; grandchildren Kelly (Joseph) Simone, Christine (Scott) Migdole, Anthony Zuppio, great grandchildren, Katelyn (Christopher) Barnes, Corey Simone, Evan Migdole, and Michael Zuppio. He also leaves his two great great granddaughters Allie and Lilly Barnes and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Irene in 1991, son Michael, granddaughter Angela, his four brothers and two sisters. The family wishes to thank the dedicated and compassionate management and staff of the Hawthorne Wing at Grosvenor Park Health Center for the loving care provided Frank during his 3 years residence. They also wish to acknowledge the support of the tireless staff and volunteers of Care Dimensions over the last few months. Bless you all. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church, Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
