Obituary of William L. Markham
William L. Markham, 77, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2016 after a brief illness. He was born in Lynn, the son of the late Charles E. and Doris M. (Bailey) Markham and had resided there until moving to Peabody 15 years ago. He was a graduate of Lynn English High School in 1957 and had served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
Bill had been employed at the Eastern Smelting and Refining Corporation in Lynn as an Assayer for 22 years prior to his retirement. He was a loyal friend, had a smile for everyone and was loved by all. He was an avid golfer and sports fan and enjoyed following the Red Sox, Patriots and Professional Golf tournaments.
He is survived by a brother, Charles Markham of Haverhill, a sister, Ethel Lomasney and her husband John of Peabody, a loving uncle to nephews Jack Lomasney and his wife Ginny, Kevin Lomasney and his wife Michelle, and his great nieces, Alex, Rachel and Mia and great nephews, Brian and Colin and many cousins. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Rita Markham. In addition, Bill leaves his special friend, Melody Spencer and her sons, Scott Spencer and Corey Spencer and his wife Megan. He was Grandpa Bill to Melody’s granddaughters Maddy and Paige.
