Obituary of Joseph Scacchi, Jr
Joseph Scacchi, Jr, 79, of Sandown, NH (formerly of Peabody, MA) died Friday, August 5th at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of his first wife, the late Carol (Amoroso) Scacchi and his second wife, the late Alma (Shea) Scacchi.
Born in Malden, he was the son of the late Joseph Scacchi Sr and Marion (Whitehouse) Scacchi. He was raised and educated in Malden and later after serving three years as a weatherman in the Navy; he attended Northeastern University and graduated with a BS degree in 1962.
Joseph was employed as a Human Resource Director for Honeywell, WR Grace and finally before retiring, at Amicon in Danvers. He also taught meteorology at Bunker Hill Community College for many years as well.
He enjoyed playing golf, baseball and coaching basketball as a parent and followed all the Boston sports teams faithfully. He earned his pilot license, was an enthusiastic gardener, loved long relaxing car rides, and had a vocal passion for soft serve chocolate ice cream. After retiring, he became a Eucharistic Minister and had a strong faith in God. His favorite activity though was spending time with his family and sharing in all of their endeavors.
Joseph is survived by his children, Nancy and her husband Alan Evans of Groveland, Susan and her partner Kevin Morse of Warner, NH, Joseph and his wife Jill Scacchi of Peabody, Jane Scacchi of Franklin, John and his wife Lisa Scacchi of Goffstown, NH, Chris Woodman and his partner, Serafina Restaino of Easthampton, and Heather and her husband Kevin Crowley of Chester, NH and is also survived by his beloved 7 grandchildren, Carolyn, Katherine, J. Mitchell, David, Madeleine, Isabelle and Ava and his sister Catherine Tudor of Jacksonville, FL. He was predeceased by his sisters, Lorraine Columbare, Joyce Pierce, and Barbara Scacchi.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, August 15th from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, August 16th at 10:30 AM at St. Adelaide’s Church, Lowell St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Expressions of sympathy can be made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
