Obituary of Elizabeth M. "Liz" (Selmer-Larsen) Morse

Elizabeth M. Liz (Selmer-Larsen) Morse, 56 years, wife of Charles E. Morse of Peabody died Sunday at her home after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Morse was born in Marblehead, Jan. 6, 1947 daughter of Margaret H. (Moriarty) Selmer-Larsen of Salem and the late Ivar Selmer-Larsen. She was raised and educated in Marblehead graduating from Marblehead High School class of 1965. She then attended Salem State College receiving her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 1971 concentrating in Early Childhood. In 1992 she received her Masters Degree in Education from Leslie College where she concentrated in Instruction and Curriculum through Creative Arts. Her teaching career started at the Clarke School in Swampscott where she taught emotionally disturbed children from 1975 to 1977. From 1988 to 1991 she taught as a substitute teacher at the Carroll School in Peabody then went on to the Center School in Peabody to teach Title I Extended Kindergarten. For the past three years she was the first grade Reading Recovery Teacher at the Carroll School in Peabody. She served as a member of the Professional Development Committee in Peabody. She also taught religious education at St. Ann Church in Peabody from 1987 to 1997. Her family and friends were first and foremost but she also enjoyed her flower garden and traveling extensively with her husband and daughter. In addition to her husband of 33 years and her mother, she is survived by a daughter, Erin E. Morse of Peabody; a brother and his wife, Peter I. and Jasmine Selmer-Larsen of Salem; a sister and her husband, Ann M. and Stephen Whittier of Salem; her father-in-law, Charles W. Morse of FL; five nephews, three nieces and a grand niece. Her funeral will be held Thursday at 8 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody location 978-531-0398 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Ann Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
