Obituary of Dorothy Anne (Munn) Lyons
Dorothy Anne (Munn) Lyons, R.N. 98 of Danvers, MA and formerly of Peabody, MA died peacefully on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the Ledgewood Rehab and Nursing Center in Beverly with her family at her side. She was the wife of the late John Murray Lyons.
She was born in Medford, MA on April 27, 1918, the daughter of the late Allen and Winifred Munn and was raised there and was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School. She later graduated from the Carney School of Nursing in Dorchester in 1940. Dorothy entered the US Navy and served during WW II in Hawaii prior to her discharge.
She had been a nurse with the City of Malden public school department and later with the former J.B.Thomas Hospital in Peabody and the Shaughnessey /Kaplan Hospital in Salem prior to her retirement. She enjoyed traveling with her husband.
She is survived by a son, Jack Lyons of Del Ray Beach, Florida, her three daughters, Ann and her husband Richard Dosch of Peabody, Jean and her husband Steven Watras of Needham, MA and Mary Beth and her husband Carl of Mission Viejo, California, her brother, Robert Munn of Port Charlotte, Fl, her 11 cherished grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Denis Lyons and the sister of the late Marion Lannon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 20,2016 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Assumption Church, 17 Grove St., Lynnfield, MA. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Suite 102 B, Danvers, MA 01923 in her memory.
