Obituary of David P Falkingham

David P. Falkingham, 62, of Peabody, died August 16, 2016, at North Shore Medical Center in Salem, after a brief illness. He was born on January 9, 1954 to the late Philip and Louise Falkingham in the North Shore. Falkingham graduated from Peabody Veterans Memorial High School’s vocational program in 1972, where he played hockey as a goalie for the Tanners. He was a proud father to Matthew (born in 1989) and Sarah (born in 1991) and he married Jody E. (Serven) Falkingham in 1999. Dave worked in and around the North Shore his whole life in positions with Lechmere, Sears, Roces, etc. Most significantly, he fulfilled a lifelong dream and owned a pet shop before he finished out his career as a FedEx courier/CDL driver. His customers on the North Shore looked forward to his warm greeting and quick jokes. Dave was a champion bowler and an avid baseball card collector. He adored Westerns and Clint Eastwood movies, enjoyed video games, and had a deep passion for the ethical treatment of animals (and dearly loved his pet Pomeranian, Nick). Even though he was devoted to the N.Y. Yankees, he was an absolute New England sports fanatic. Dave will be remembered by his family and friends as the “strong, silent type.” Falkingham is survived by his wife, two children, his stepson Joshua Durham, siblings Patty, Linda, Janis, John plus the late Philip Jr., and two step-grandchildren, Maeve and Paige Durham. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 23 at 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
