Obituary of Bette Jean (Gibley) Carpenter

Bette Jean (Gibley) Carpenter, 66, of Peabody died unexpectedly at her residence on Saturday, August 27, 2016. She was the devoted wife of the late Gerald “Jerry” B. Carpenter. She was born in Salem, MA on March 7, 1950, the daughter of the late Joseph and Esther (Sholomith) Gibley and was a life long resident of Peabody. She was a graduate of Peabody Veterans Memorial High School in 1968. Bette had worked with the TD Bank for 48 years starting as a teller and rising to vice – president of regional branch before her retirement in 2012. She enjoyed going shopping, looking for the best deals on clothing. She also liked going out to breakfast with her special group of friends and catching up on the latest news. Her most treasured time was spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kimberly Carpenter of Alamo, California, a daughter, Debra Ruiz and her husband Tomas Ruiz both of Peabody; her cherished grandchildren, Joseph Brian Ruiz of Peabody, and Grace Elizabeth and Jack Gerald Carpenter both of California; her sister-in-laws, Joanne Gibley of Rowley, MA, Elizabeth Carpenter of Peabody, Patricia Hidler of New Hampshire and a brother-in-law, Kenneth D. Carpenter of Nahant, many nieces and nephews and a host of loving friends. She was the sister of the late Leonard Gibley. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur funeral home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. A Service will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, West Peabody.
