Obituary of Phillip E. Newton

Phillip E. Newton, 52, of Peabody, died early Saturday afternoon at his home following a brief illness. Born in Salem on June 10, 1951, he was the son of the late Gordon and Dorothy (Lally) Newton. He was a lifelong resident of the city and attended Peabody Public Schools. He was a self-employed handyman who worked for various companies and people on the North Shore until his illness. He was a Charter Member of the VFW Men’ s Auxiliary Club, post 1011, and St. Paul’ s Episcopal Church, both in Peabody, an avid hockey fan, and a diehard New York Yankees Fan. He also enjoyed the outdoors, camping and ice fishing. He is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Patricia Newton and Rich and Mary Ann Newton, all of Peabody; 7 nieces, nephews, and many close friends. A Memorial service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9 until 11:00 AM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
