Obituary of Margaret C. (Morrison) Abbott

Margaret C. (Morrison) Abbott, 89, of Wakefield, MA and formerly of Peabody, MA, died early Tuesday September 13, 2016 at the Bear Hill Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Stoneham. She was born in Peabody, MA on May 16, 1927, the daughter of the late John J. and Ellen C. (McMahon) Morrison and was raised and educated in Peabody graduating from Peabody High School in 1945. . At her graduation, she was the recipient of the George Peabody Medal. Margaret was a graduate of Burdette College and was employed at the Leather Worker’s Union Office in Peabody for several years. She then became a staff assistant at Salem State University for 20 years prior to her retirement. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary A. and Domenic Capozzi of Wakefield, MA, her siblings, John J. Morrison of Salem, MA, Ethelwyn E. Morrison and Ellen C. Morrison both of Peabody, Alice T. Morrison of Wakefield and Loretta F. Coombs of Beverly, MA; her 4 cherished grandchildren, Michael and his wife Rebecca Capozzi , Kevin and his wife Cara Capozzi and Brian Capozzi all of Wakefield, MA, and Caitlin Capozzi of Wellesley, MA; her two great grandchildren Lily Margaret and Caroline Capozzi both of Wakefield and several nieces and nephews. She was the former wife of the late Ralph F. Abbott of Reading and the sister of the late Edward L.; Francis X. and Robert E. Morrison, Mary V. Allain, Elizabeth A. LeBlanc and Claire M. Morrison. A Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 10:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody at 11:00 AM.
