Obituary of June I Gianakakis
June I (Lamont) Gianakakis, 90, of Peabody, died Tuesday evening at the Winchester Hospital following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Nicholas Gianakakis with whom she shared over 35 years of marriage.
Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Annie (Dalton) Lamont. She was raised and educated in Saugus and has spent the last 65 years living in Peabody.
June was employed at the former American Mutual Insurance Company in Wakefield as a accounts clerk for over 28 years before she retired.
June enjoyed doing oil and water color painting and enjoyed spending time with her family and sharing in all of their endeavors.
Besides her husband Nicholas, June is survived by her son Allan L Ireland of Peabody, her two daughters, Allaison Whitaker of Saugus and Janet Angus of Lynnfield and is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Jody, Jennifer, Jill, Jessica, Jacqueline and Janet and her great grandchildren, Kristen, Jarrod, Jayden, Amanda, Eva, Eden Brett and Felicia. She was predeceased by her first husband, Allan Ireland in 1973.
Her Funeral will be held on Monday at 11:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to North Shore Elder Services, 300 Rosewood Drive, Suite 200, Danvers, MA 01923.
