Obituary of Arlindo C Silva

Arlindo C Silva, 92, of Peabody, died early Saturday morning surrounded by his loving family at his home. He was the devoted husband of Erzilina (Mello) Silva with whom he was married for 26 years. Born in Gracioso, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Teofilo da Cunha and Maria A (dos Santos) Silva. He was raised and educated in Portugal before he and his family immigrated to the United States in 1968. He has been a resident of Peabody for the past 48 years. Arlindo was employed in the tannery industry in Peabody and the Container Company America. Arlindo enjoyed gardening and making his Portuguese wine and was a member of the Holy Ghost Society as well. Besides his wife, Arlindo is survived by his two sons, John Silva and his wife Gina and Manuel Silva and his wife Telma of Peabody and by his grandson Andrew Silva and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife of 36 years Vitalina (Picanco) Silva and by 10 brothers and sisters. His funeral will be held on Friday at 8:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by his Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Walsh Ave Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, North St., Salem.
