Obituary of Hollis "Sonny" S B Kent, Jr

Hollis “Sonny” S B Kent Jr, 72, passed away peacefully at the Clipper Harbor Home in Portsmouth, NH after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born on September 24, 1943 in Danvers, MA he was the son of the late Gertrude (Verry) and Hollis SB Kent Sr. He was the youngest of his deceased siblings Warren Kent, Frank Elliot Kent, Barbara (Kent) Giunta, Eva (Kent) Maguire and Carey Kent; Sonny worked for the North Shore News for many years and was a proud member of the Teamsters Union. He was President of the Moose in Beverly. In the 80's Sonny moved to Farmington, NH and worked at Highliner Foods in Portsmouth NH prior to his retirement. Sonny loved to walk. He loved to play Bingo and his weekly card or cribbage game on Friday night with his friends. He was an avid New England Sports fan. Especially the Red Sox and Patriots. He loved his family and lived for his kids and grandkids. Sonny is survived by his son Ricky and his wife Lisa (Payne) Kent of Peabody, MA, his daughter Tracy (Kent) Parent of Farmington NH, his 3 Grandchildren Amber-Lyn Parent, Courtney Kent and Cameron Kent. He is also survived my many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who fondly knew him as Uncle Sonny. A celebration of Sonny's life will be held on Saturday October 1, 2016 at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Family and friends will start gathering at 12:00 PM followed by services 12:30 PM to which family and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association MA/NH Chapter, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472 or www.alz.org/MANH
