Obituary of Ursula (Rother) Panek
Ursula (Rother) Panek, 67 years of Peabody, wife of the late Henry J. Panek, died unexpectedly Monday at her home.
Mrs. Panek was born October 18, 1935 in Oldenburg Germany daughter of the late Henry and Emma (Klapper) Rother. She was raised and educated in Germany. She immigrated to the United States in 1952 making her home in Wellesley. She received her degree in nursing from Wellesley Hospital. She then resided in Beverly from 1962 until moving to Peabody in 1968.
Mrs. Panek began her working career in 1956 as a registered nurse at Salem Hospital. After raising her family she was then employed at Stern Can Company which later became Eagle Can Company in Peabody as a spot welder for 23 years until her retirement.
Mrs. Panek enjoyed dancing, traveling and belonged to the German American Citizens Club in Peabody and a gun club.
She is survived by a son and his fiancée George Dunlap and Cynthia Teel of Salem, 3 sons and their wives, John and Jill Panek of Peabody, William and Kathy Panek of Salem and Dr. Henry and Judith Panek of Dallas PA; 2 daughters, Diane Garyait of Peabody and Patricia Dunlap of Dresden ME; 2 sisters, Magda Kromer and Gerda Rode both of Germany; 14 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. She was also the sister of the late Hines and Elizabeth (plz note no family names).
Her funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody location (978-531-0472). Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Friday 4 - 8 p.m. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem. Memorial Contributions may be made in her memory to the Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, Boston MA 02215.
