Obituary of Mary Spanos
Mary (Zarules) Spanos, 87, of Peabody, passed away Saturday afternoon at the Hunt Nursing Home in Danvers following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Ernest T. Spanos.
Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Virginia (Bogas) Zarules. She was a life long resident of Peabody and a graduate of Peabody High School.
Mary was employed for several years at Travel Rite Leather in Peabody, worked alongside her husband running Ernie's Cape Ann Diner in Gloucester for many years and later was employed as a sales clerk at Hickory Farms in Danvers.
Mary had a tremendous sense of humor and had an infectious laugh. Mary was an avid reader. She loved sharing holidays with family and friends and making traditional Greek foods. Mary will be dearly missed by all.
Mary is survived her son Timothy Spanos and his wife Janet of Peabody, her daughter Virginia Spanos and her long time partner, Dana Jones of Lynn. She was predeceased by her siblings, George Zarules and Agnes Lignos.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM and burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
