Obituary of John W. "Jack" Connors

John W. “Jack” Connors, 82 PEABODY – John W. “Jack” Connors, 82, beloved husband of the late Phyllis (Ronan) Connors, died peacefully while in the comforting presence of his family. Jack was born in 1934 to Patrick and Catherine (Kane) Connors of Lynn. As a young child he moved to Connors Road, West Peabody where he proudly built his home and raised his family. He was a standout athlete at Peabody High School, "This boy seems to be one of the best schoolboy punters to be seen in a decade." (Sports Mirror, October 5, 1947). Following high school he joined the National Guard. In 1956 he married the love of his life, Phyllis and they shared close to fifty years together. He graduated from the Fire Fighters Academy in 1963. For nearly thirty years he served the City of Peabody as a firefighter along with his two brothers, Frank and Gene. He also operated his own painting business. Jack enjoyed gardening and sharing the bounties of his harvest with friends and family. He also enjoyed woodworking, and spending time with loved ones. He was a lifelong member of St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody and was devoted to his faith. He was a loving man with a very generous spirit, always giving in service to others with complete humility. He is survived by his six children; Maryanne & Louis Buonadonna of Amherst, NH, Bernadette Powers & John Reagan of Middleton, Sean & Julie Connors of Peabody, Leo & Joyce Connors of Middleton, Sheila & Alex Konovalchik of North Andover and Peter & Linda Connors of Hamilton. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Colleen Elliott of Peabody and his son-in law, Larry Powers of Middleton. He leaves behind 20 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, his brother, Frank Connors and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Gene, Jim, William, and Raymond Connors; sisters, Patricia LaPlante and Helen Murdoch. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Wednesday October 12, 2016 at 9:30 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. in St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody, followed by cremation. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
