Obituary of Irene B. Kajos

Mrs. Irene (Brown) Kajos, age 89, of Peabody and Beverly, died Monday, October 17, 2016 after a brief illness. She was the wife of William George Kajos of Peabody. They were married 58 years. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Gregory P. and Helen (Vranos) Brown, both whose families emigrated from the Greek Island of Lesbos. Irene was raised in Lynn, attended Lynn Public Schools and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. Irene was a perfectionist and excelled at anything she undertook. Some of her favorite things to do were knitting, cooking, sewing, especially dolls clothes for her daughter and granddaughters, the Red Sox, and reading. During her lifetime she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper. She was also a teacher’s aide for the city of Peabody. Most of all, Irene adored her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother sister and aunt. She will truly be missed. Irene is survived by her daughter Ellen Nordquist, her husband Lane and granddaughter Alexandra of Beverly; her son George Kajos and his wife Barbara of Westborough, and granddaughter Jacqueline Helene Kajos Kingsby and her wife ShaDanta Kajos Kingsby and grandson William. In addition, Irene is survived by her sister Dorothy Kereakoglow of South Hadley and Mary Lampros of Cumberland Foreside, ME and has many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Bessie, Sophie, Bennie, Harry, and Ernie Brown of Lynn. A Funeral Service will be held at Saint Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos Street, Peabody on Friday at 11:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody from 4 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
