Obituary of Ralph K. Putnam
Ralph K. Putnam, 86 PEABODY – Ralph K. Putnam, 86, of Moultonborough, NH and formerly of Peabody, died unexpectedly following a brief illness on Monday October 17, 2016 at the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia, NH. He was the loving husband of the late Patricia Putnam with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Ralph, fondly known as “Putt,” was born in Peabody to the late Everett and Alice (Jung) Putnam. Ralph graduated from Peabody High School, and went on to spend over three decades serving the city as a Fire Fighter. He worked at many of Peabody’s fire stations over the course of his career from 1960 to 1993. He was also a gifted mason, and spent time employed as a plasterer, as well as working with Whidden Supply Company and Hamblett & Hayes Chemical Company. Ralph built his home on Lynnfield St. in Peabody, as well as a summer cottage overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee in Moultonborough, NH. Ralph and his wife always looked forward to having family up to this summer home, known to many as “The Camp.” Ralph converted “The Camp” himself into a year round residence and moved there permanently in 2008, right across the street from his son and family. Ralph enjoyed a full life with friends and family in both Peabody and Moultonborough. He created countless happy memories traveling with his wife, going on cruises and annual winter getaways to Naples, FL. He loved being outdoors, be it gardening or working on numerous projects around his home. He enjoyed a quiet life with family and friends at the lake; making Sunday morning pancacke breakfasts and taking in the view at Buzzell Cove from the screened-in porch he built. In recent days, he cherished spending time with his rescue dog, Toby, watching classic western movies, and working on a good puzzle. He will be remembered as a strong, loving and hard-working man, who was always generous to his family. He is survived by his son, Kenneth Putnam & his wife Lisa of Moultonborough, NH; two grandchildren, Kayla and Nick Putnam of Moultonborough, NH; his two sisters, Eileen Hall of Marblehead and Joan Hazel of Hampton, NH, his brother Roy Putnam of Moultonborough, and many beloved nieces and nephews. After cremation, relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a visitation on Monday October 24, 2016 from 11 AM – 12:30 P.M. followed by a Funeral Service at 12:30 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Urn burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to either a Fire Fighters Relief Fund of Peabody or NH Humane Society in Laconia, NH.
