Obituary of Joan Alice (Hamilton) Fisher

Joan Alice (Hamilton) Fisher, 78, formerly of Peabody and Danvers, died peacefully on Thursday October 20, 2016 at the Essex Park Nursing Center, Beverly with her family at her side. She was the wife of the late William Thomas Fisher Jr. Joan was born in St. Louis, MO on February 19, 1938 the daughter of the late Frederick and Elizabeth (Briggs) Hamilton and was raised in Andover, MA graduating from Punchard High School in 1956. Joan had resided in Peabody and later moved to Danvers in 1984. She had been a secretary at the Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in Hamilton for 23 years prior to her retirement. Joan had been an active member of the West Congregational Church in West Peabody serving on many committees and also enjoyed gardening, growing her flowers and vegetables. She liked to read but her favorite time was spent being with her family and enjoying all their activities. She is survived by her five children, Marc Fisher and his wife Sandy of Saco, ME, Dean Fisher and his wife Ann and Troy Fisher all of Peabody, Stephanie Doherty of Danvers, and Dianne Brown and her husband Robert Brown of Beverly, MA, a brother Edward Hamilton of Henniker, NH, her precious grandchildren, Jared and Madison Weymouth, Thomas, Marc, Daniel and Cali Fisher, Harrison and McKayla Fisher, T.J. Fisher and Emily Mills, her great grandchildren, Layla and Jayden Weymouth and Maverick Fisher and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Briggs and Frederick Hamilton. A visitation will be held on Monday, October 24, 2016 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St. Peabody facility. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016 at the West Congregational Church, 27 Johnson St., West Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Elm St., No. Reading.
