Obituary of Mary Lee Quinn
Mary Lee Quinn, wife, mother, grandmother and teacher passed away on Thursday, October 20, following a short illness.
Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Ruth M. Clark. She grew up in Rensselaer and graduated from the Academy of the Holy Names in Albany, and Trinity College in Burlington, VT. She was a member of the Mater Christi Parish in Albany. Since 1984, she taught at St. Catherine of Siena School (now Mater Christi School). In her more than 30 years as a teacher, educator and mentor there, Mary Lee taught more than 2,000 students. Her legacy will live on in the lives of those outstanding young men and women who have gone on to make a difference in the Capital Region and beyond, and who never forgot her impact on them.
For many years, Mary Lee was also part owner of her father’s Rensselaer-based company William H. Clark Municipal Equipment.
Mary Lee was a master quilter, sharing her handmade quilts with many family and friends. From the time she attended her first game in 2006 at the Dome, she was a diehard fan of Syracuse University basketball. In her free time, she loved doing anything and everything with her grandson, Patrick, who was the light of her life.
She is survived by her husband, Denis A. Quinn; her son Kevin Clark Quinn: her daughter-in-law Mary E. (Lares) Quinn; and her grandson, Patrick William Quinn, all of Syracuse; a brother William G. Clark (Michele), a sister, Kathleen M. Clark; and a brother Brian J. Clark (Donna), all of Albany; two sisters-in-law, Tricia (Quinn) Magesky (Neil), of Peabody, MA, and Marita (Quinn) Lanzilotta (Edward), of Reading, MA; along with many nieces and nephews, dear friends and fellow teachers.
Friends and relatives are invited to greet the family on Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 9:15 a.m to 10:30 a.m. at Mater Christi Church, 35 Hurst Ave. in Albany. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 and interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush, will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family strongly requests that memorial donations be made to the Mary Lee Quinn Scholarship Fund at Mater Christi School, 40 Hopewell Ave., Albany, NY 12208.
