Obituary of Dona L. Turmenne
Dona L. Turmenne, 83, of 29 Joy Road, beloved husband of Marie (Le Blanc) Turmenne of Peabody, died unexpectedly Friday afternoon in the Union Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Napolean and Isabella Turmenne. He lived in Lynn in his youth, lived in the Brickyard neighborhood, and attended Lynn public schools.
Mr. Turmenne enlisted in the United States Army, with service in World War II.
He worked as a Sheet Metal Fabricator with National Radio in Melrose and then at General Electric in Lynn for a short time before retiring almost 20 years ago.
He enjoyed his family, and was a handy carpenter around his home. He liked crafts and woodworking.
He is survived by: his wife, Marie of Peabody; two daughters, Jane Czarnecki of Peabody and Gloria Zapolski of Lynn; two sons, Donald Turmenne of Lynn and Michael Turmenne of Peabody; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by all of his brothers and sisters, including Wilbur Turmenne, Edmund Turmenne, Roland Turmenne, Blanche Scarpello, Julia Sewell, Bertha Cooper, and Ann Cormier.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 8 AM from the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut St. of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 AM in Sacred Heart Church, Lynn to which relatives and friends are invited
A visitation will be held today from 5 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
