Obituary of Julia De Sousa (Diogo) Madeira
Julia De Sousa (Diogo) Madeira, 96, of Peabody, passed away Saturday Moring at the Care One in Peabody, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Anibal Madeira. Julia was born in Portugal, on July 23, 1920, daughter of the late Luis Diogo & Helena De Sousa. She was raised there until moving to the United States in 1960. Prior to her retirement, she worked as an assembler for Parker Bros. She was a member of the Holy Ghost Society and the Clube de Luis Camoes, both in Peabody. She enjoyed traveling back to Portugal, a place that was close to her heart, she enjoyed gardening, and also enjoyed cooking a variety of Portuguese meals, to which she was very good at, most of all, she loved being surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Florinda & Jorge Amorim of Methuen, Maria Helena & Edward Zanni of Dracut; her grandchildren and their spouses, Kristina & Shane Kendall, Daniel & Nancy Amorim, Dominique Zanni; her great-grandchildren; Samantha & Saige Kendall, Jacob & Mateo Amorim; ane her godson and his wife, Antonio De Sousa & Piedade of New Bedford. She was predeceased by her four siblings. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 26 from 4 – 8P.M. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. in Peabody with a service in the funeral home at 7:45 P.M. She will be laid to rest in Cemiterio da junta de Freguesia de Galveias in Galveias, Portugal.Memorial Contributions be me made in her memory to the Alzheimers Association, 480 Pleasant St. Watertown, MA 02474
