Obituary of Louis A Maio

Louis A Maio, 81, of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Tuesday morning at the Boston Medical Center. He was the devoted husband of Irene (Beiras) Maio with whom he shared over 59 years of marriage. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Francesco and Anna (Cerbone) Maio. He was raised and educated in East Boston and has spent the last 43 years living in Peabody. Louis served with the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in September of 1955. Upon his discharge from the military, Louis was employed with the United States Post Office and later attended Fisher Junior College and received his Associates Degree. He then retired as a Police Security Office after 30 years of employment. Louis was a long time member of the Italian American Club and the Elks Club where he held several positions over his 32 year membership. He enjoyed bowling and his favorite endeavor was spending time with his family and friends. Besides his loving wife of 59 years, he is survived by his two sons Frank Maio of Peabody and his friend Dina Beshere, and Joseph and his wife Cindy Maio of Londonderry, NH, his daughter, Leanne and her husband John Gesnaldo of North Reading, his two brothers, Michael Maio of Peabody and Anthony Maio of East Boston, his sister, Ester Gualtieri of Revere and is also survived by his 8 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Ralph Maio and Rosemarie Mazzone. His funeral will be held on Monday at 9:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Adelaide’s Church, Lowell St, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 3:00 until 6:00 PM. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
