Obituary of John E. Howell
John E. Howell, 59, beloved husband of Sally (Swaczyk) Howell, passed away on Friday, October 28th surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer at Memorial Hospital in North Conway. Born in Salem, he is the son of the late Raymond F. and Eleanor M. (Colby) Howell. John grew up in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1975. For 25 years, he worked as an operations manager at Ferguson Enterprises in Lynn. John and his wife Sally had recently moved to Freedom, New Hampshire, where they spent the last six months building their new home. He was an avid golfer. John played annually at the golf tournament at Sebago Lake in Maine and also played in a league every Monday. John was also a big Patriot and Red Sox fan. He was a true family man, he enjoyed the time he got to spend with his children and grandchildren, and attend all of their sports games. John was an extremely likable guy and a very hard worker. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife of 23 years, Sally, he is survived by his two children: Stephanie Morneau and her husband Raymond of Peabody and John E. Howell, Jr. and his wife Shannon of Chester, New Hampshire; three brothers: Raymond F. Howell of Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic, Paul K. Howell and his wife Shirley of Deerfield, New Hampshire and Mark R. Howell of Salem; one sister: Deborah A. O’Donnell and her husband Michael of Danvers; four grandchildren: Hailey and Mason Morneau and Justin and Ella Howell; his aunt: Judith Meagher of Manchester, New Hampshire; two brothers-in-law: William Swaczyk and his wife Patricia of Peabody and Stanley Swaczyk of Maine, along with several nieces, nephews and friends, and his faithful dogs: Timmy and Shadow. He is predeceased by his brother David M. Howell and his mother-in-law: Doris Swaczyk.
