Obituary of Petros S. Tsoukalas

Petros S. Tsoukalas, 83, beloved husband of the late Florika (Giallias) Tsoukalas, passed away on Sunday, November 6th, at his home, surrounded by his family. Born in Chios, Greece, he is the son of the late Stefanos and Maria (Kouchialas) Tsoukalas. Petros grew up in Chios and was a merchant marine. He immigrated to the United States in 1956 and became a U.S. citizen in 1965. He and his wife settle in Peabody and raised their three children. Petros was a house painter by trade, enjoyed being in his garden and was a member of Saint Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody. He was a humble, hardworking man and his family was most important to him. He is survived by his three children: Maria Foley of Methuen, Stefanos Tsoukalas and his wife Leah of North Andover and Christos Tsoukalas of Peabody; one brother: Alex Tsoukalas and his wife Debbie of Peabody; two sisters: Evangela Nianiahas and her husband Evangelos of Chios, Greece and Katina Ladis and her husband George of Peabody; five grandchildren: Eleni Pedrosa of Methuen, Achilles Gikas of Methuen, and Peter, Mia and Ty Tsoukalas of North Andover and two great grandchildren: Jacob and Alexis Pedrosa, along with many nieces, nephews and extended family here and in Greece. He is predeceased by his sister: Sophie Psiahoulas. A Funeral Service will be held at Saint Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos Street, Peabody on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church Street, Peabody on Wednesday from 4 to 7 P.M.
