Obituary of Joseph M Donlon

Joseph M. Donlon, 84, of Stratham, Formerly of Peabody, MA died Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at the Exeter Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born April 29, 1932 in Salem, Ma the son of the late John and Josephine ( Hanley) Donlon. Joe Lived in Peabody, MA for most of his life and was a graduate of Peabody High School and North Shore Community College. He was a Peabody police officer for 27 years and retired as Chief in . He was a graduate of the FBI National Academy in 1980 Class 122, served as President of the Peabody Historical Soceity and was an avid clock collector and enjoyed repairing old clocks. He moved to Stratham, NH in 2005. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He and his wife, Pat travelled to Ireland, Hawaii. He was the husband of Patricia (Mahoney) Donlon for 63 years. Family members in addition to his wife include his children, Carolann Bernstein and her husband Joe of Sharon, MA, Ellen Stockbridge and her husband, Dan of Exeter, NH, Joseph M. Donlon, Jr. and his fiancée, Diana Robertson of Bradford, Ma and Tricia Kurkul and her husband, David of Exeter, NH, his 10 grandchildren, Timothy, Heather, Kristin, Brian, Keith, Joseph M, III, Jessica and Jake, Alex and Jacque, his 4 great grandchildren, Mya, Emma, Claire and James, his sisters, Mary Donlon , Helen McInnis and Esther Breen all of Peabody, also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, John Donlon and sisters, Elizabeth Locicero, and Lilllian Guzofski. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Ann’s Church, Lynn Street, Peabody, MA Saturday at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be at the Conway-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody on Friday from 4-7PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Rockingham VNA/Hospice, 141 Epping Road, Exeter, NH 03833 0r the Parkinson’s Foundation.
