Geraldine A. “Gerry” (Moran) Downey, 80 PEABODY – Geraldine A. “Gerry” (Moran) Downey, 80, beloved wife of William Downey, passed away on Tuesday, November 8th at Rosewood Nursing Home, surrounded by her family after a five year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born in Salem, she is the daughter of the late Thomas Joseph, Sr. and Delia Marie (Geraghty) Moran. Gerry was a life long resident of Peabody and a graduate of Saint John’s High School. She was employed at the Sylvania Company for 41 years, prior to her retirement in 1997. She was a member or the Quarter Century Club of Sylvania. Gerry loved to shop and enjoyed traveling with her husband. She was a loving wife and a kind hearted person who also enjoyed spending endless hours with her niece, nephews and grand niece and grand nephews. In addition to her husband of 50 years, William, she is survived by her step-daughter: Diane M. Serafine and her husband Michael of Chandler, AZ; one brother: Thomas J. Moran, Jr. and his wife Claire of Peabody; one sister: Mary Velez and her husband Henry of Peabody; sister-in-law: Cynthia Loretti and her husband Russell of Lynn; a niece Patricia Sears and her husband James and their children: Michael and Patrick Sears all of Danvers; four nephews: Michael Velez and his wife Dianne and their daughter: Raegan Velez all of Peabody, Thomas Moran and his children: Jason, Stephanie and Michelle Moran all of New Hampshire and Philip Moran and his wife Janet and their children Dawn, Marie and Brian Moran all of Danvers and Christopher Moran and his wife Rachael and their children Colin, Matthew and Ryan Moran all of Danvers. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint John the Baptist Church, 16 Church Street, Peabody on Monday at 10:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody on Sunday 4 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
