Obituary of Patricia Frances Belyea
Patricia F. “Pat” Belyea, 92, beloved wife of the late William F. Belyea, passed away on Friday, November 11th at Grosvenor Park in Salem, surrounded by her family. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she is the daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Baird) Lynam.
Pat grew up in the depression era. Having lost her mother very early in life, and her father being salesman, she traveled extensively with her “Daddy” to many places. She graduated from the Academy of Saint Joseph in South Berwick, Maine, and worked in banking in Boston till her marriage. Pat and her husband then settled in Marblehead and raised their family there.
Pat was a lover of pets, enjoyed dancing, old movies – especially Deana Durbin, and marching in the Senior Light Brigade Drum and Bugle Corps with her sons. And she loved to laugh. Pat was familiarly noted to have a special knowledge of “monkey-grinders”, “swimming with the diggers”, and “rum-drunk raisins.” And being short of stature, if you lost Pat in a crowd, all you needed to look for was the Glengarry she almost habitually wore
Pat had a deep Catholic faith, was a professed Carmelite Secular with the Order of Carmel, Discalced, and a parishioner at Star of the Sea Church in Marblehead. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be truly missed.
She is survived by her four children: Patricia Robitaille of Marblehead, Paul Belyea and his wife Paula of Lynn, Thomas Belyea of Marblehead and Richard Belyea of Peabody; three grandchildren: Heather Wicken and her husband Christopher, Nicole Lippens and her husband Philip and Joseph Robitaille; and four great grandchildren: Connor, Cole, Eva and Liliya. She is predeceased by her son-in-law Thomas Robitaille.
