Obituary of Calliope (Gerakakis) Reale

Calliope (Gerakakis) Reale, 88, of Lynnfield and formerly of Peabody, died Wednesday afternoon at the Harborside Cedar Glen Nursing Home in Danvers, following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Armand Reale, who died on January 22, 2006. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Helen (Papatheas) Gerakakis. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1936. She has been living in Lynnfield for the past 40 years. She worked as a bookkeeper for over 25 years, first at Badger Company and later for Raytheon in Cambridge. After her 25 years of bookkeeping, she followed her love of cooking and went in the catering business. She catered for over 9 years from Lynnfield for various companies and outing on the North Shore. She is survived by her daughter Angela and her husband George VanCott of Boxford, grandmother of Kristen VanCott-Geautreau and her husband Stephen and George Michael VanCott, all of Redondo Beach, CA, great grandmother of Francesca Grace Geautreau, sister of Nick and Eugene Gerakakis and Stella Harris, all of Peabody. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Assumption Church, Lynnfield to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Friday from 5:00 until 9:00 PM Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy can be made in her name to the Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923.
