Obituary of Doris E. (Augusto) Mendes

Doris E. (Augusto) Mendes, 87, of Peabody, Wife of the late Anthony R. "Tony" Mendes, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, November 14, 2016 with her loving and devoted family at her side. Doris was born in Peabody on November 12, 1929 daughter of Candido and Cora (Espinola) Augusto. Raised and educated in Peabody, she graduated from Peabody High School in 1948 and pursued her cosmetology license. Doris and Tony were married in the same year. Prior to her retirement in 1979, Doris was employed for 11 years at the Carroll School as a paraprofessional teacher's aide. Doris was a devoted mother who created a home for her family, supporting them with their endeavors, and was so proud of her cherished grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Doris is survived by her children and their spouse, Corrine J. and Joseph J. Cronin of Peabody, and Richard A. and Dorene A. Mendes of Middleton; her grandchildren and their spouses, Jeffrey and Lauren Cronin, Cori-Beth and Stephen Mulvey, Maura and Stephen Ricardi, and Amelia Mendes, her precious great-grandchildren, Gavin and Mason Cronin, Chase Anthony Mulvey, Avery Ricardi and Teagan Mulvey; a sister-in-law, Helen Gonsalves of Hudson, NH; many nieces, nephews and longtime dear friend Inez Simmons. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home on Friday, November 18th at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1 Margin Street, Peabody - Salem line.
