Obituary of John T. "Fitz" Collins

John T. “Fitz” Collins, 63 PEABODY – John T. “Fitz” Collins, 63, beloved husband of the late Joanne (Gioia) Collins, died peacefully on Friday November 18, 2016 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following an extended illness. Born in Montague, Prince Edward Island, Canada, he was the son of the late Richard and Madonna (Reitiff) Collins. He lived there as a young boy. His family moved to the North Shore area in Lynn, Peabody, and Salem areas for 55 years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, with service during the Vietnam War. Mr. Collins was a Ground Traffic Control Operator with U.S. Airways for many years before recently retiring due to health issues. Fitz enjoyed traveling, and staying fit by working out at the gym. He is survived by a son Trevor Collins of Lynn; two brothers, Leonard “Lenny” Collins of Peabody and Robert Collins of Ramona, CA, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death, besides his wife and parents, by a son Jared Collins and brother Jamie Collins. Following cremation, relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a Funeral Mass on Monday November 28, 2016 at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody.
