Obituary of Wayne M Ferson

Wayne Melbourne Ferson, of Amesbury, formerly of Hampton, NH and Newburyport, MA died November 28, 2016. He is survived by his son, Scott M. Ferson and his wife Lucy J. Pullen of Belmont, his daughter, Linda L. Robbat and her husband Paul Robbat of North Andover; his grandchildren, Bryan P. Robbat and Jason P. Robbat of North Andover, and Andrew M. Ferson and Cate L. Ferson of Belmont. He is also survived by his cousins Laurie Witherell and her husband Donald Witherell of Shirley, and Debra Foss Varva and her husband David Varva of Wyoming, RI. His beloved wife of 55 years, Barbara Ferson, died in 2012. He was a graduate of Fitchburg High School and Dean College. He was a Navy veteran. Until his death he was a practicing residential architect, but his signature project was designing the American Textile History Museum in Lowell, MA. Devoted to his family, he coached his daughter’s softball teams and enjoyed attending Celtic’s games with his grandchildren. He also served as Moderator at two Unitarian churches, in Billerica and Essex. Friends and family are invited to a gathering of remembrance and celebration at the First Church in Belmont, Unitarian Universalist, 404 Concord Ave, Belmont, MA on Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 3-5PM, with a tribute and eulogy at 4:30. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted in Wayne’s memory at UMass Dartmouth where his children graduated www.umassd.edu/advancement, or Dean College at www.dean.edu where he was inducted into their 50th Society at this year’s commencement.
