Obituary of Genevieve D (Cummings) Foster

Genevieve D (Cummings) Foster, 96, of Amesbury and formerly of Peabody, died Tuesday afternoon at the Merrimack Valley Health Center in Amesbury following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late George A. “Hoppy” Foster, Sr. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Ellen (Lyons) Cummings. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School, Class of 1938. She has lived in Amesbury for the past 6 years. Genevieve was employed as clerk, first with General Electric and late at Evans Flowers in Peabody before retiring many years ago. She belonged to the women’s club and enjoyed knitting and dancing, but her favorite endeavor was spending time with her family and later her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all. Genevieve is survived by her two sons, George A, Foster, Jr of Amesbury and Ralph Foster of Phoenix, AZ, her daughter, Patricia Kolsky of North Andover and by her 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and by her great great grandchild, and also by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Russell Cummings and Madeleine Cena. Her Funeral will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 10 am – 11 am. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
