Obituary of Jerry Della Croce
Jerry Della Croce, 90, beloved husband of the late Josephine (Gullifa) Della Croce, died peacefully on Wednesday at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading following an extended illness, while in the comforting presence of his family.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Gerado and Amelia (DiGenova) Della Croce. He grew up in East Boston where he attended schools, and graduated from East Boston High School.
Mr. Della Croce enlisted in the United States Navy, in which he served a patriotic duty during World War II.
Gennaro was a Jet Engine Mechanic, working with North East Airlines which ultimately merged with Delta, with 48 years of service.
He enjoyed flying model planes, and was a member of the Sons of Italy. He was passionate about his family, and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his four daughters Diane Vaughn & her husband William of Peabody, Geri Della Croce of Denver, CO, Gail Della Croce of Bradford and Lynne Tranfaglia & her husband Wayne also of Bradford; six grandchildren, Matthew Sobecky, Nina Sobecky, Eric Vaughn, Lauren Tranfaglia, Grace Della Croce, and Marc Tranfaglia; three great-grandchildren, Tessa Vaughn, John Kelly and Taylor Kelly, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death, besides his wife and parents, by brothers Richard, Mario, Anthony, and Frank.
Jerry’s Funeral will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Grove St. Lynnfield to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. The family will receive people starting at 10:15 AM at the church prior to the funeral mass. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
