There will never be anyone like Despoinis. She truly was one of a kind. I have known her since I was a little girl. To her, I was Fofo. All of us who knew her through our years in Greek School and at the church, are not only connected to her, but somehow connected to each other just by knowing her. Tonight, as we all feel this loss, let us all feel connected to each other as we say good bye to her, let us know that we were all part of something special. Thank you, Despoinis. I am sure you are in the company of our Lord now and that Ayios Vasilios is thanking you for your lifelong support and commitment to his namesake in Peabody. May your memory and your legacy be eternal! Aiwvia

December 18, 2016 - My recollection of Despines was as follows.
She was a second mother to all her students, she had incredible foresight as to what your capabilities were and nurtured you to expand your horizons. Yes, she could be tough but that is what made us try harder.... you wanted to please her. She was our mentor, confidant, leader and our best friend when you needed one. If you were right she was always on your side and that is why when she came calling for you to join a committee she was spearheading you always said YES ...what do you want me to do !
Rest in Peace Despines....you deserve it. A great loss for the Greek community. A true legend who will live on in those of us whose lives she touched and in stories told. Loved, respected and admired, Despines was dedicated to the children of St. Vasilios, in our education and heritage. I will forever be grateful for her commitment and dedication and will miss her presence.
God rest her soul.

May her memory be eternal. Mary was a lady who dedicated her life to our community of faith. A personality that we will never see again. Known and lived by all she met. It was an honor to have known her as my Greek School teacher and in many organizations within our Church. I was all the better for having known her.
