Obituary of Artur Jose Cesar

PEABODY— Artur José César, 50, of Peabody, passed away Monday evening at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, surrounded by his loving family, following a lengthy battle with Crest syndrome. Artur was born in Sintra, Portugal on November 29, 1966, son of the late José César and Mariana (Novias) César . He was raised there until immigrating to the United States in 1978 at the age of 12. Artur went on to graduate from the Peabody Vocational School in 1985. At the age of 18, he started to devote himself to bodybuilding, which led him to becoming a professional bodybuilder and going on to win Mr. New England, and also competing for Mr. Olympia. He also enjoyed playing the drums, listening to heavy metal rock music, owning sportscars, watching his favorite football team, the New England Patriots, and loved indulging on his favorite desert, blueberry cheesecake. Known as “Superman” to his family, Artur was a larger-than-life personality, being big in stature, he was a kind and gentle person. He adored his family, especially his mother, Mariana, in which he would never leave his mother alone, always wanted to be in her presence, he truly loved her and was not afraid to show it. He was also a religious man, never taking his faith for granted. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, in Peabody. He will be forever known as a kind hearted person, and a true family man. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Besides his mother, he is survived by his loving soulmate of 25 years, Elayne Mosko of Peabody; his daughter, Nicole Tracchia of Peabody: his siblings, Carlos César, Maria César, and Fernando and his wife Tanya César, all of Peabody; a niece, Meaghan Bettencourt & her fiancé Jesse Machado; his godchild, Sophia César, and an Aunt, Uncle, and the Abreu family, and many uncles, aunts, and cousins in Braga, Portugal. A Visitation will be held on Monday, December 26 from 4:00P.M until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 27, at 8:00 AM at the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh Ave., Peabody at 9:00 AM. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
