Obituary of Ralph "Ray" Anthony Altavilla
Ralph “Ray” Anthony Altavilla, 74, of Peabody entered Gods Kingdom on December 21, 2016. He was the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Patti) Altavilla.
Ray grew up in Chelsea and graduated from Everett Vocational School, where he studied tool and die making. Upon graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as a military policeman. He later served with the New Hampshire Air National Guard and had been stationed all around the world before retiring after 28 years as Master Sergeant.
He also worked in the machine and manufacturing field and was employed with many companies including Cool-Ray, Gillette, Smith & Nephew Dyonics, Vicor, and by many others.
He was loved, admired, and respected by everyone and was always one with a joke or a friendly greeting to everyone. He also was an avid sports fan and loved his Patriots, Bruins, and Celtics.
Ray is survived by his wife of 50 years, Arleen (Epstein) Altavilla, his daughter, Marissa Beth Collibee and her husband Michael, his two grandsons, Mackenzie Scott and Liam Jay, his brother Anthony Altavilla Jr of Epping, NH, two sisters, Donna Slick and Dolores Altavilla, both of Fl and also by several nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Ray’s Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Friends and family will gather on Wednesday at 1:00 PM at the funeral home and process to Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St., Peabody for a graveside service at 1:30 PM. Friends may make contributions in Ray's memory, to TD Banknorth, 79 Lynnfield St., Peabody, MA 01960.
