Obituary of Walter F. Zimirowski
Walter F. Zim Zimirowski, 85, of So. Peabody,
died Friday at the Union Hospital, Lynn after a brief illness. He was the husband of
Virginia (Campbell) Zimirowski with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.
He was born in Lynn on May 1, 1918, the son of the late Louis and Juliana (Kaminska)
Zimirowski, and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. He had resided in
Peabody for the past 56 years.
He had been a foreman and inspector at the General
Electric Co., River works plant in Lynn for 40 years prior to his retirement 23 years
ago.
He and his wife summered in Calais, Maine.
He, along with his late five brothers, all served in the armed services during WW 11 and were named the
Fighting Zimirowski’ s from Lynn. Walter served with the U.S. Army in Central
Europe during WW 11 and was a member of the DAV Chapter 100 in Peabody.
Surviving him besides his wife are a son, Terry Zimirowski of Peabody, a daughter and
Son-in-law, Kaye and Denis Pelley of Williamsburg, VA., 4 grandchildren, Stephen Knowlton of Amesbury, Tracy Knowlton of Peabody, Christi-Anna Zimirowski of Lynn and T. Christian Zimiroski of New Ipswich, N.H., a step-grandaughter, Jennifer Bettencourt of Peabody, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late
Joseph, Edmund, Stanley, William and John Zimirowski. A Funeral Serevice will be held on
Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St.
Peabody facility. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
A Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 until
11:00A.M. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery,
Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to American Lung Assn. Of Ma., One Abbey
Lane, Middleboro, Ma. 02346 in his memory.
