Obituary of Richard "Rick" J. Coy

Richard J. “Rick” Coy, Sr. PEABODY – Richard J. “Rick” Coy, Sr., 66, beloved husband of Cheryl (Davis) Coy, died peacefully at his home on Thursday morning January 12, 2017 while in the comforting presence of his family, following an extended illness. Born in Brockton, he was the son of the late Raphael and Ida (Nollette) Coy. He grew up in Brockton where he attended schools. Mr. Coy enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War as a Radio Operator, and served with valor. He earned their award, the Cross of Gallantry, for helping save a fellow comrade. He was gifted in carpentry, and he worked as a General Contractor and also worked in related trades. He went to work with Princeton Properties first as Supervisor of Maintenance, and later was their Purchasing Agent. He retired 16 years ago. Rick enjoyed woodworking, traveling, and gardening with flowers or most recently vegetables. He also enjoyed watching birds come to feed near his garden. He was a Lifetime Member of the Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.) Chapter of Salem. He is survived by his wife Cheryl Coy of Peabody, with whom he shared 23 years of marriage; two sons and two daughters, Richard “Jay” Coy, Jr. of AZ, Christopher Coy & his wife Julie of Abington, Anne Kramer & her husband Keith of Wareham, and Patricia “Patty” Coy of Brockton, and he was father of the late Robert “Bobby” Coy. He also is survived by six grandchildren and extended family. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for his Funeral Service on Wednesday January 18, 2017 at 11 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
