Obituary of Mary Alice (O'Brien) Gormley
Mary Alice (O’ Brien) Gormley, 90, of Peabody and formerly of Lynnfield, died Friday morning at the Rosewood Nursing Home following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Charles Gormley.
Born in Malden, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Keene) O’ Brien. She was raised and educated in Malden and was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School. In 1958 she moved to Lynnfield were she lived for 47 years and has spent the last year living in Peabody.
While in Lynnfield, she was an active fund raiser for Our Lady of Assumption Church. She also enjoyed dancing and singing and was active with her husband’ s business, Gormley Transportation.
She is survived by two sons, William Gormley and his partner John Rogers of Laguna Beach, CA and Paul and his wife Maureen Gormley of Peabody, a daughter, Ann Marie and her husband Don Stack of Punta Gorda, Florida, six grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Joan Frances Lawrence.
Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody Facility followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Ann’ s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Monday from 4:30 until 7:30 PM. Burial in Willow Cemetery, Lynnfield.
