Obituary of Alfred J. Therrien

Alfred J. Therrien 81, of Peabody, also known as Bob Soucy while growing up in Danvers, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 with his loving family at his side. Al was born in Jay, Maine on February 1, 1935 son of Wilfred and Lillian (Richer) Therrien. He was raised and educated in Danvers before moving to Peabody where he resided for most of his life. Al owned an operated the Alco Insulation Company and was well known in the North Shore and Boston Areas. In 1993, Peabody Mayor Peter Torigian hired Al as a custodian for the Burke School, a position he held until his retirement in 2003. Al was a much loved father, grandfather and great grandfather with whom he enjoyed spending countless hours. As hobbies, he loved fishing, woodworking, dancing to country music, motorcycling, going to casinos, Keno, playing cribbage, and was also a member of the Polish Club in Danvers. Al is survived by his wife Natalie A. Maga with whom he shared 30 years of marriage, his 3 daughters and their spouses, Tammy J. and Robert Hamilton of Tewksbury, Tracy A. Brown and her partner James Crowe of Peabody, and Heather L. and Andre Palomo of Tewksbury; his step children and their spouses, Pattiann and Adam Belanger of Peabody, and Thomas W. and Cindy Maga of Easton; his former wife Judith (Sovulis) Isom and her husband John of Peabody; his grandchildren, Danny and his wife Shannah, Beth and her husband Jon, Amanda, Emily, Lindsey, Cameron, Taylor, Kyle, Danielle, Luke and Grace; his great grandchildren, Christian, Jacob, Ryland, Ella, Kaleb, Jada, Aiva and Christopher; a daughter-in-law, Paula Lynnette Cook of SC; a special cousin, Yvette Buentgen of Salem; his best childhood friend Billy Mills Sr. of Lynn, and several nieces and nephews. Al was also predeceased by 2 sons Ronald J. Therrien and Robert D. Therrien and 2 grandchildren Ashley and TJ. His family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday January 21st at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers his family requested that memorial contributions be made to the Epilepsy Foundation of NE, www.epilepsynewengland.org or to Care Dimensions, www.caredimensions.org .
