Obituary of Helene R. (Mooney) Guinee
Helene Regina (Mooney) Guinee, 92, of Topsfield, Massachusetts and Naples, Florida went home to God, and her beloved Timothy, on January 28, 2017. A woman of faith, strength, courage, and wit, “Babe,” as she was known to all, was a devout Catholic who treasured the sanctity of life. Babe was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts on January 21, 1925 to Martin J. and Helen A. (Gilmore) Mooney. As a young girl, Babe enjoyed picnics on Castle Island, and family trips to Saratoga, New York. She attended grade school on Mission Hill, and the Jeremiah E. Burke High School. A graduate of the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing, Babe was a natural born nurse and caretaker. Babe’s humility, patience, generosity, and compassion made her a woman to be admired. She devoted her life to serving others. Her gentle hand touched many and she welcomed people with open arms and an easy laugh. Her profound faith in God allowed her to shoulder the greatest burdens and losses in life with a heart full of love. Her devotion to her late husband, Timothy J. Guinee, Jr., and their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, taught everyone who met her the value of family and friendship. Her absence on earth leaves a gaping hole, but her tireless work here is done. We pray that our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and best friend enjoy all the rewards of eternal life. Babe’s legacy will live on in her and Tim’s 12 children and their spouses, 53 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren: Marylee and Robert MacDougall of Naples, FL, and their children, Robert and Ailish MacDougall and Thomas and Bridget MacDougall; Timothy Guinee III of Newark, DE, and his children, Erin and Anthony Colgan and Timothy IV and Lisa Guinee; William and Ellen Guinee of Topsfield, MA, and their children Mary, William Jr., Katherine and Timothy; Paul and Kathleen Guinee of Cohasset, MA, and their children Aisling, Paul Jr, Christine and Thomas; Jeanne and Peter Hosinski of Stamford, CT, and their children Helene and Nate Pinches, William, Peter, Claire and Patrick; Kevin and Deborah Guinee of Gloucester, MA and their children Brenden, Timothy, Madeline, and Patrick; Lawrence and Alicia Guinee of Peabody, MA and their children Nora, Lawrence Jr., Maire, Martin and James; Kerry and Paul Hutchinson of Topsfield, MA and their children, Elizabeth, Paul, Michael, Katherine, Marylee and James; Michael and Kathleen Guinee of Newtown, CT and their children, Michaela and Matthew; Patrick and Stacey Guinee of Essex, VT, and their children, Patrick Jr., Kerry, John Paul, James, Daniel, Michael, Timothy, Clare and Lucas; John and Kara Guinee of North Andover, MA and their children, John, Caroline, Joseph, Michael, Kevin, Catherine, Maureen, Thomas, Elizabeth and Veronica; and Gregory and Caitlin Guinee of South Boston, MA. In addition, Babe is survived by her sister, Mary Pauline Elwood of Stratford, CT and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband of over 60 years, Babe was predeceased by her brother, Martin J. Mooney Jr., and sister, Margaret (Peggy Ann) Mooney.
