Obituary of Theodore "Teddy" Salpas
Theodore Teddy Salpas, 84 years, of Peabody formerly of New York, NY died Friday evening at the Pilgrim Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Peabody after a brief illness.
Mr. Salpas was born October 12, 1918 in Lowell son of the late John and Maria (Volakos) Salpas. He was then raised and educated in New York graduating from Textile High School. During WWII he served in the United States Army with the 719th RY OPN BN and saw battle in the North Apennines and Rome - Arno.
After World War II he was employed for 30 years as a cook in a Brooklyn, NY Diner until his retirement in 1978. Following his retirement he moved to Peabody to be closer to his family. He was a sports enthusiast and could name all of the players on any given team.
He is survived by a niece, Peggy Decoulos of Peabody and several other nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, great grand nieces and great grand nephews. He was predeceased by 5 brothers and a sister, James, Steven, George, Nicholas and Jack Salpas and Stella Decoulos.
