Obituary of Stella (Gagerges) Panopoulos

Stella (Gagerges) Panopoulos 88, of Peabody, wife of Peter T. Panopoulos, passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on Monday, January 30, 2017 with her loving and caring family at her side. Stella was born in Boston on February 7, 1928 daughter of Nicholas and Aphrodite (Gogos) Gagerges. Raised in Somerville she graduated from Somerville High School in 1946. 58 years ago she and her husband moved to Peabody where they have since made their home. Stella was employed as a supervisor in the billing department at Salem Hospital, a position which she held for many years. She was a loving mother who created a home for her family and their friends and was so proud of her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her youth she was an acrobat, and as hobbies she enjoyed dancing, reading and traveling. In addition to her husband Peter with whom she shared 68 years of marriage, she is survived by her 3 children and their spouses, Theodore P. and Donna Panopoulos of Seabrook NH, Julie S and Richard “Rick” Bianco of Peabody, and David T. and Diane Panopoulos of Rindge NH; her cherished grandchildren, Nikea Panopoulos, Stella Bianco, Athena Bianco, Alexa Bianco, Jeneva Panopoulos, Christine Perrina and Peter Panopoulos, her 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and her loyal canine Rat Terrier companion Skippy. She was also predeceased by her siblings Mary Drugas and Spero Gagerges. Her family will received relatives and friends on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her funeral will be held at 9 a.m. from the funeral home on Tuesday, February 7th followed by a service at 10 a.m. at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody.
