Obituary of Alexandria (Tsimourtas) Mekeadis

Alexandria (Tsimourtas) Mekeadis, 81, of Peabody, died early Saturday morning at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Charles Mekeadis with whom she shared 55years of marriage. Born in Manchester, NH, she was the daughter of the late Sotirious and Paraskevi (Gitras) Tsimourtas. She was raised in Athens, Greece, where she survived the German Occupation during World War II. She then lived in Lynn for six years and has spent the last 55 years living in Salem. She worked for ten years for Champion Electric in Lynn, and then devoted herself to raising her family. In addition to caring for her family, she enjoyed gardening and traveling back and forth from Greece. Besides her loving husband, she is survived by a son, George Mekeadis of Salem, a daughter, Cynthia Ramos of Swampscott and her granddaughter, Alexandria Ramos of Swampscott. She was the sister of the late Chris and George Tsimourtas. Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 AM in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 until 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
