Obituary of Lorraine A (Charest) Jalbert
Lorraine A. (Charest) (McGovern) Jalbert, 89, of Peabody and formerly of Salem, died peacefully Tuesday morning at the Blueberry Hill Nursing Home in Beverly following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Emmet F. McGovern and George E. Jalbert.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Hector and Yvonne (Soucy) Charest. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1944. She lived in Peabody for the past 30 years.
Lorraine was employed as a secretary for GTE Sylvania in Salem and retired in 1986 after 37 years of service. She was a member of the GTE Sylvania Quarter Century Club, Peabody Council on Aging, but her favorite endeavor was gardening.
Lorraine is survived by her siblings Donald Charest of Rockport and Gloria Boulay of Salem, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Carmen Watkins, Patricia MacMillan, Roland Charest, and Georgette Gadala.
Her Funeral will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Care Dimensions 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
