Obituary of Donald E. "Pap Pap" Higinbotham

Donald E. Higinbotham 88, of Lynnfield, husband of the late Mildred E. “Mémère” (Dube) Higinbotham, died peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on Friday, February 10, 2017 with his family at his side. Mr. Higinbotham was born in Grindstone, PA, on September 29, 1928 son of the late Robert and Nellie (Little) Higinbotham. Raised and educated in Grindstone, he then enlisted into the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. He and his wife Mildred were married in 1954. They first lived in Maine and then in 1956 moved to Pennsylvania. The family eventually moved to Massachusetts, and in 1962 purchased their home in Lynnfield. Donald was the owner and an auto mechanic at the family business, West Peabody Service, for many years until his retirement. He was a loving father who dedicated his life to creating a home for his family and supporting them in their endeavors. Later in life, he became the grandfather of 18 whom he cherished. Most recently, he welcomed 3 great granddaughters and a great grandson into the family. Donald was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Lynnfield for many years, and as hobbies enjoyed trips to the casinos, cooking and travel. He and his wife Mildred enjoyed opening their home to spend time with family and friends. Donald is survived by his children and their spouses, Donald E. Higinbotham of Lynnfield, Annemarie and Kevin Davidson of Claremont, NH, Donna and Pete Canuel of Peabody, Thomas R. Higinbotham of Edgewater, FL, Ronald W. and Teresa Higinbotham of Peabody, and Dale P. Higinbotham of Lynnfield; 18 grandchildren, twins Danielle & Daniel, Tiffany, Kevin Jr. and his wife Lauren, Paul and his wife Laura, Ryan and his wife Page, Chad, Joe, Josh, Justin, Jason, Jake, Jenna, Tom Jr. and his wife Elena, Anthony, Shilynn, Emilia and Austin; 3 great granddaughters, Kayden, Addyson, and Sydney, and a great grandson Grayson; 2 brothers, Ronald Higinbotham of Pittsgrove, NJ, and Lloyd Higinbotham of Grinstone, PA; a sister, Sara Campbell of N. Huntington, PA; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and friends. He was predeceased by a grandson, Sean Canuel, and his siblings, George Higinbotham, James Higinbotham and Robert Higinbotham. As per his wishes a family service will be held in the spring.
