Obituary of Richard A. Vose, Sr.

PEABODY--Richard A. Vose, Sr., 78, of Peabody, died Monday evening April 17th at the North Shore Medical Center, Salem Hospital following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Eileen J. (Reardon) Vose with whom he shared over 53 years of marriage. Born in Lawrence, he was the son of the late Clinton P. and Florence (Wilson) Vose. He was raised and educated in Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1945. After a year at Colby College, he enlisted with the United States Army and served in Italy for 18 months. After his discharge, he continued his education at Colby College and received his Bachelor’ s Degree in 1951. He worked for over 30 years for the John Hancock Mutual Insurance Co in Boston, retiring in 1987 as Vice President. He also enjoyed golfing and boating and was a longtime member of the Danversport Yacht Club and former Vice Commodore. He was a man filled honestly and integrity and was very proud of his family. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by loving children, Richard A Vose Jr., William Vose and his wife Jill, Brian Vose, Thomas Vose, Stephen Vose and his wife Carol, Judith Lombardi and her husband Kevin, and Robert Vose and his wife Lee, his grandchildren, Sarah, Allison, Michael, Thomas, Kristen, Lauren, Kelly, Ryan, Cameron and Sydney Vose, Katherine, Victoria, and Anthony Lombardi, and is also survived by a brother, Clinton P. Vose, Jr. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth (Beston) Vose. His Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
